“859 House” at 859 19th Street NE in the Trinidad neighborhood of northeast Washington, D.C. (aka Carver Terrace) is a beacon of hope in a “tough inner-city neighborhood” where crime and drugs wreck havoc in the lives of teenagers and entire families.
The 24 minute video produced by volunteers from Green Valley Community Church gives a brief overview of the tremendously positive impact that this community center, under the leadership of Jeff Spencer and his leadership team, has on this community. The 19th Street Center is mainly used for afterschool activities to enrich the educational and social experience of children in this part of Washington DC.
The staff and children of 859 House enjoyed their annual retreat at Camp at Old Mill in Pennsylvania. County Corrections Gospel Mission, owners of the camp facility next to the Brandywine River, is proud and happy to be affiliated with 859 House. The pictures below captures some of the fun.
